The annual Winton Fun Run has helped raise more than $10,000 for the repainting and resealing of the community swimming pool.

The Fun Run was held on Sunday, March 4, with participants running, biking or walking around tracks of varying lengths including 2.5km, 6km and 12km.

Central Southland Pool Committee spokesperson Monique Harvey said the event went really well.

"We had 500 people (attend). We were a bit worried, the night before it was a bit wet."

Mrs Harvey said there was lots of families present on the day with plenty of children running the 6km leg with their families.

"We had lots of people on bikes for the 12km... maybe a dozen people did the 12km run."

The best dressed business trophy was awarded to the team from Winton Subway.

A band from Central Southland College also kept the fun atmosphere alive, playing throughout the day.

Mrs Harvey said the Fun Run helped raise $11,000, with a lot coming from the sponsorship of local businesses.

The money raised will help the pool committee get the inside of the pool painted and resealed.
